notes on syllogism

Syllogism: simplest form of logical argument  Evaluate syllogism:  •evaluate if their true  •evaluate to see if their valid  True means facculay verified proof there is no “her” truth “his” truth there is only THE truth  Does the conclusion follow the premises  Ex: Australia is dealing with the worst fires. DEDUCTIVING REASONING: Going from a general idea to a specific case or example

Notes from today’s lecture MLK

ETHOS: Elements of  messenger that create a sense of credibility (verbal or non-verbal) PATHOS: he mentions the death of African Americans that touches the hearts of the people  LOGOS: (logic)  Fallacy is an error  Reason, structure, and formula  He uses the diction and syntax in order to connect with his audience such as a phrase he used by using “withering injustice” it gives him credibility because African Americans weren’t allowed  Metaphor  Imagery  Figurative language  He quotes the constitution to give a more powerful speech
